Creating Foresight-Fueled Action: Lonny J Avi Brooks

Originally recorded April 16, 2021

In this interview, Lonny J Avi Brooks, PhD, speaks with The Futures School Co-Founder Frank Spencer.

Lonny and Frank discussed compelling topics including how the famous black sociologist and civil rights activist W.E.B. Du Bois spoke of sharing “undiscovered stories” to transport people into the future. Lonny talked extensively about using futures thinking as a spiritual journey to bring healing to marginalized communities  – these images of the future restore visions that were lost to colonization, and unearth indigenous ideas for different futures (and different ways of even seeing the world). Frank and Lonny also spoke on the necessity of the future being relayed through immersive and empathetic storytelling, using technology, community interaction and large-scale artifacts to touch and experience the future.
