The Futures School and Design Futures Initiative announce partnership for the Speculative Futures Program

As part of The Futures School’s learning ecosystem, the Speculative Futures Program is a hands-on, immersive experience that makes designing and prototyping the future applicable to the goals of today’s organizations and initiatives.

The Design Futures Initiative (DFI) and The Futures School (TFS) share similar missions.

Both organizations want to bring together diverse, progressive minds to imagine transformative futures and pull them into the present. Each organization employs Foresight in a myriad of ways to plan, lead, innovate, and inspire strategies for responsible, ethical, and mindful futures.

Design Futures Initiative was launched in 2015 in San Francisco. Since inception, it has welcomed over 10k+ members worldwide, hosted hundreds of events and workshops, and organized four conferences. Speculative Futures chapters exist in over 12 countries and are growing every day. DFI hopes to continue developing more educational programs and offerings to reach out to more people and truly normalize and democratize Design Futures.

Birthed in 2015, The Futures School is a global development platform pioneered by Kedge, a foresight, innovation and strategic design consultancy. Through intensive programs, learning events, professional certification and other growth opportunities, TFS empowers individuals, institutions, organizations, and governments to adopt foresight as their 21st century operating system. The TFS Alumni network is diverse and dynamic, with representation from over 25 countries. The Futures School has empowered thousands of individuals to fuel their lives with foresight.

The Speculative Futures Program will be piloted in late 2020. Understanding the needs of the DFI and TFS communities for more practical and accessible learning solutions, the program will allow both organizations to further their missions of democratizing the future across the world.
