Democratizing the Future is our mission. To make The Futures School accessible to everyone, we have a holistic approach to funding the future.
The Futures School provides the best value and most competitive price for its foresight learning offerings. Still, we recognize that many individuals seeking to leverage the skills of foresight might find such industry-leading training cost-prohibitive.
That’s why we’ve created the Kedge Forward Fund: an innovative and holistic pricing model that aims to make foresight attainable to as large and diverse a group as possible. We want everyone to be able to think like a futurist to seize opportunities and solve grand challenges.
“Thanks to The Futures School for granting me the Kedge Forward Fund, it will surely be a great opportunity to continue developing my experience and knowledge in the foresight discipline.”Bárbara Ferrer Lanz, Partner and Senior Consultant of Memética, TFS Alumni Activator Feb-Jun 2021, KFF Awardee
After the respective deadline, we will review all requests and put together the largest and most professionally diverse cohorts the Fund allows.
The Applied Foresight Accelerator is The Futures School’s flagship program. Over 3 days, participants take part in an interactive certificate program that empowers them with the critical skills of Strategic Foresight and Futures Thinking for a new era of complexity and change.

The Futures School is a global development platform pioneered by Kedge, an international foresight, innovation, creativity, and strategic design firm.
The word “kedge” speaks to a core part of our philosophy. A kedge is a small anchor on a sailing vessel used when there is no wind at sea. A small crew would take a rowboat in the direction they wanted the ship to go, and drop the kedge anchor. The vessel could then pull itself to its destination.
Likewise, we created the Kedge Forward Fund to enable people to pull themselves to their desired future through the training they receive at our programs.
KFF is available for all Applied Foresight Accelerator, Applied Foresight Activator, and Futures x Design (DFI and TFS collaboration) programs.
Each year, we seed the Fund with $15,000 USD. Our goal is to impact as many individuals as possible with this amount.
The KFF fund deducts 80% from the program tuition.
The funding assistance is typically granted to people who are social innovators, employed at a non profit, and/or are self-funded.
If you have received Kedge Forward Funding for one of our programs, you are not eligible to reapply or receive funding for an additional program. This is to ensure there is opportunity for a larger pool of individuals to join us in democratizing the future.
No, we do not. We evaluate all funding requests simultaneously (after the submission deadline) in order to curate the most diverse cohorts. If your request is granted, the 80% deduction is the amount you will receive — no more, no less. There will be no negotiation of the tuition fee in order to uphold the integrity of the curation process.
Makeup of the cohort: We aim to curate a group of participants that is diverse in terms of industry, background, desired outcomes, and worldview. Having representation from across these dimensions is key to a successful program, so these factors will be considered when distributing the fund.
Your resource constraints: We rely on your honest and candid description of why you are submitting the request.
Potential for impact: Our goal for the Kedge Forward Fund is to democratize foresight and reach those individuals and organizations primed to transform the world with futures thinking.
We will evaluate all requests concurrently after the deadline and curate the largest and most diverse cohort the Fund will allow. We will let you know within 10 business days after the deadline if your request was granted. The identities of all applicants and recipients will be kept confidential unless an individual explicitly gives us permission to share their story for the benefit of other aspiring futurists.
When you apply to the Kedge Forward Fund, you are committing to actively participate in the program.
For the Applied Foresight Accelerator, you must attend the entire three-day program.
For the Applied Foresight Activator, you must attend at least 9 of the 12 labs and consistently scan to the Human_AI bank.
For the Futures x Design (DFI and TFS partnership), you must attend the entire two-day program.
If you aren’t sure you’ll be able to meet these requirements, please do not submit a funding request at this time.
If your request is granted, you are responsible for paying the amount specified as “My Responsibility.” This holistic funding model allows us to weigh all requests equally and develop the most diverse cohort possible. Further, this unique process only functions if applicants follow through on their commitment to join us — we are unable to redistribute funds to other applicants after selection is complete.
No, you may not. Funding requests are specific to a particular program and are not transferable. Once you submit your request, you are committed to attending / participating in the respective program, if your request is granted.
To protect the integrity of the funding program, you forfeit your right to attend the program at full tuition if your request is denied. You may re-apply to a future program.
Please note: You must apply for a program before submitting a KFF request.
